Meghalaya is a state lying in Northeast India. In Sanskrit language, the expression Meghalaya refers to the abode of clouds. Read More....By Air: There is a tiny airport at Umroi, and the distance from the state capital is 35 km. It lies on the Guwahati-Shillong Highway. The tiny area of the airport works as a hindrance for operating big aircrafts. Tiny aircrafts exclusively fly from Agartala (the capital of the bordering state of Tripura) and Kolkata. A new flight service from Indian Airlines has been launched for three days on a weekly basis from Kolkata to Umroi, and the distance from Shillong is around 20 km.
