Assam is a state lying in the northeastern part of India. The capital of the state is Dispur. The state is situated towards the south of the eastern portion of the Himalayan Mountain Range. Assam is made up of the river valleys of the Barak and Brahmaputra together with the North Cachar and Karbi Anglong hills.
