Shimla is the capital and biggest city of the state and served as the summer capital of the British Raj. Lying in the lap of the Himalayas, top tourist draws to see here include mansions from the British age, Jakhoo Hills, The Ridge, Mall Road, Potters Hill, Indian Institute of Advanced Study, and Tara Devi temple.
A picturesque small settlement and globally known hill station which has kept its Victorian appeal. It is ideal for those people who wish to relax and are looking for a calm and peaceful ambience. Dalhousie is a popular picnic and hiking spot.
Famous for its Tibetan inhabitants and Buddhist monasteries. Bir is also popular among the paragliding enthusiasts and is known for ecotourism and learning meditation.
It is the district headquarter of Kullu district. It falls on the way to Manali and the Kullu valley is also termed as Valley of the Gods. Kullu is famous for its apple gardens, historic temples and handicraft goods. The month of October is the ideal time to go to Kullu.
It is the holy abode of the Dalai Lama and an important religious hub. It is one of the most famous hill stations in Northern India. There is significant Tibetan population and the place can be split into two – the Lower and the Upper Dharamsala, also known as McLeod Ganj. There are some tea plantations, museums and art galleries.
It is also named as The City of Powerhouses or Electric City. Jogindernagar is famous for its beautiful resorts and places of interest close to it. Bilaspur falls en route to Manali. It is famous for the GovindSagar Lake. It is the oldest hill town in India. People come to Bilaspur during September to December. There are a number of forts to see and adventure sports lovers swarm here for paragliding, water sports and river sports.
Keylong serves as the district headquarters of the Lahaul and Spiti district. The well-known Kardang Gompa is a top tourist draw over here. The scenic sights of the Lahaul Valley are an added attraction. You can make a trip to the Trilokinath mandir, Udaipur from this place.
It lies in the Mandi district and is known for the Sundernagar Lake. Earlier, it was named as Suket, a princely state in India. There are many educational institutions in the place and people come to visit the Murari Devi Temple, Mahamaya Temple, Hateswari Temple, Rewalsar, and Sheetla Mata Temple, lying nearby.
It is an important settlement in the state, houses the Revalsar Lake which is a holy site for Hindus and Buddhists. Mandi is home to approximately 300 temples and some of them are famous for their delicate sculptures. Notable places of worship include Ardhanareshwar Temple, Panchvaktra Temple, Bhootnath Temple and Triloknath Temple.
