GSRTC or Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation is the principal bureau which has the responsibility of running buses inside the state of Gujarat and the bordering states as well. GSRTC is a public transportation agency, offering bus services and public transportation facilities in the state and other states in the country as well. Besides these, Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation offers a variety of services to the common public.
Intercity Bus Services — It joins key cities like Vapi, Ahmedabad, Rajkot and Vadodara (Baroda).
Mofussil Services — It joins important cities, smaller rural communities and settlements in the state.
Interstate Bus Services — It joins different cities in the state with the bordering states of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan.
Parcel Services — This is available for freight movement.
City Services — In addition, GSRTC offers city-based bus services in Baroda, Surat, Gandhinagar, Vapi, and Ahmedabad in Gujarat.
Other than this, the GSRTC arranges special bus services for fairs, carnivals, special events, industrial areas, colleges, schools, and religious sites.
City bus services are available in cities such as Bhavnagar (VTCOS) Ahmedabad (AMTS & Ahmedabad BRTS), Vadodara (VTCOS), Rajkot (VTCOS), Gandhinagar (VTCOS), and Anand (VTCOS).
A common transportation mode in the state are auto rickshaws. The state government is encouraging use of bicycles to cut down pollution.
The state of Gujarat falls under the Western Railway Zone (Indian Railways). The busiest railhead in the state is Vadodara or Baroda Railway Station.
