How to reach Himachal Pradesh

By Air:

The state houses three domestic airports and they are the following:

  • Bhuntar Airport (serves Manali and Kullu)
  • Shimla Airport
  • Gaggal Airport (serves Dharamsala and Kangra)

Flights are available to Chandigarh and Delhi frequently.

By Rail:

There is limited railway network in the state. Narrow gauge tracks connect Shimla and Kangra with Pathankot. A narrow gauge line joins Kalka (in Haryana) with Shimla and other significant parts of India.

By Road:

There are 19 state highways and eight national highways in the state of Himachal Pradesh. As a result of avalanches and snowfalls, a number of roads remain closed during the winter months. Bus services are available on a regular basis from Shimla to the following places:

  • Kullu
  • Chandigarh
  • Delhi
  • Manali
  • Pathankot
  • Mandi
  • Chail
  • Ambala
  • Dehradun

Taxis also ply to different places.
